Bottled Water Quality

Culligan Bottled Water exceeds or meets every U.S. and all state health requirements.

The U.S. FDA (Food and Drug Administration) provides regulations for bottled water as a food product, compared to the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) which sets regulations for municipal water. The FDA Standards of Quality (SOQs) for bottled water must be as protective of public health as EPA’s standards (known as maximum contaminant levels).

Culligan Bottled Water Methods

Culligan uses the multi-barrier method to process and protect against harmful chemicals and microbiological contaminants, including Cryptosporidium and E-Coli. Dedicated sanitized stainless steel tanker trucks transport our spring water. The spring water passes through a series of one-micron absolute filters and is also ozonated. Premium Drinking Water undergoes a 7-step water treatment process.

Reverse Osmosis Drinking Water System

This is an added security system for your water. Culligan Water of Sonoma County’s reverse osmosis system removes water contaminants as small as an atom, leaving you with clean, delicious drinking water right at your fingertips.

Ozonization vs. Chlorination

The final step Culligan uses is ozone instead of chlorine during bottled water production. Ozonation leaves no residue and does not cause any taste or odor problems. Ozone is Oxygen (O3 to be exact) that is bubbled through the water just before it goes into a clean, sanitized bottle. Within a few hours after the bottle has been filled and capped, the ozone dissipates or converts back to the same natural type of oxygen we breathe (O2).

Culligan’s 7 step process to remove unwanted tastes, odors, and chemicals:

  1. Water Softening
  2. Medical Grade Activated Carbon Filtration
  3. Particle Removal via Five-Micron Filter
  4. Reverse Osmosis Removes 99% of Disolved Solids & Cryptosporidium Cysts
  5. One-Micron Absolute Filtration
  6. Flavor Enhanced by Addition of Natural Minerals
  7. Ozonation

Fluoridated water goes through the same 7-step purification process as our drinking water; then we add 1 ppm of high-grade fluoride.
