The best softener for your well water can depend on a number of factors including your water hardness, household water usage and flow rate. Whether your water has high levels of other components like iron may also play a role. Efficiency, lifespan, maintenance needs and smart features (such as salt refill alerts and water usage tracking) are also things to consider. Culligan Water offers a full-service water softener installation for your well system which makes it easy to get started. At your convenience, your trained Culligan Water expert will connect your water softening system to the water supply, the drain and the salt-filled brine tank, and you’ll be good to go. The average time of installation is about 2-4 hours.
Not typically. Culligan water softeners work effectively for water from both well and municipal sources. However, the Aquasential® Smart High-Efficiency Municipal Water Softener and the HE Municipal Water Conditioner also reduce chlorine, which is not an issue in well water, and are therefore only recommended for homes with municipal water. For well water, it may also be beneficial to get a filtration system in addition to a softener to tackle any additional issues your water may have.
Regeneration is an automatic water softener process that recharges the resin beads in your system so they can keep doing their job of removing the calcium and magnesium that cause hard water. Culligan’s Aqua-SensorⓇ technology monitors the condition of the resin and only regenerates as needed, making the system more efficient. Regeneration will typically happen every four to seven days.
Being proactive about maintaining salt levels and having your system cleaned as needed can help increase the overall lifespan of your system and its ability to consistently provide cleaner, soft water. Culligan’s salt delivery program and the availability of service packages from most locations help make this process simple. If your system has smart features that pair with the Culligan Connect App, you’ll also receive notifications when a salt refill is needed or if your system has a problem. For any product, your owner’s guide will provide you with specific maintenance recommendations for your system.
